You can’t have missed it, surely? It’s old news in internet terms by now. In fact, I believe it started on Tik Tok, so being in my 40s that means it was already old news by the time I even found out about, let alone persuaded my creaky old lady brain to weigh in on the conversation.
Just in case your creaky brain is even older than mine, I’ll recap. Someone on TikTok asked a group of women if they were alone in the woods, would they rather run into a man they didn’t know or a bear? Overwhelmingly, the woman chose the bear.
Predictably, this caused some “spirited debate” that often skated dangerously close to using the phrase “Not All Men”, which I thought we’d agreed we weren’t allowed to say anymore. Women said things like, “If I’m attacked by a bear and survive, at least people will believe me”, and “The worst a bear will do is kill me”. Men said things like “Women are bad at statistics” and “Women know nothing about bears”.
