I’ve woken up this morning to a drizzzly Sunday, and I’m not that sorry about it.
To be honest, a few days of drizzle makes us appreciate the sunny days more, and stops my house hanging onto so much heat that it doesn’t cool down till November.
This is what British Summers should be like. Keep it up Britain.
Those of you who are sun worshippers, I’m genuinely sorry, but I’m sure it will be back.
My week wasn’t hugely exciting, but I did get up to a few things.
This week I…
Returned to cancer land
We had a lovely weekend away, but on Monday I returned home and immediately had to head to the hospital for my Zometa infusion to keep my bones nice and strong. It was hot, and I treated myself to a taxi rather than getting the bus, so I arrived feeling all cool and relaxed. Only to find I was 2 hours late. They fit me in anyway.
Good story huh?
Did not get into the London Marathon
Again.
Not hugely surprised, let’s face it, the year I was most likely to get in was the year I could barely move without crying.
Went for a walk
Obviously I already have my own Marathon to train for anyway, and it’s still a bloody long way to walk. So training continues.
This stupidly hot week we delayed the Wednesday walk to Friday when it was a *little* cooler and clocked up 9.5 miles.
It felt ok. I mean, by the evening I felt like I might never be able to move again, but it passed pleasingly fast and I’m actually chuffed with how training is going so far, and incredibly proud of how this bod has dragged itself back up by its bootstraps to be able to do this.
Set up our home cinema
I mean, that’s a fancy way to say we put a TV in the office, but it’s been a background dream since we moved in 12 years ago. We bought a special sofa with drinks holders, then did nothing else and filled the room with junk. This week we installed a big TV and a soundbar, and bought some special cinema cushions and we watched the Fall Guy to test it out. Still lots of tweaks to be done and this picture IS before we hoovered after sorting the room. But it’s really nice to have another option to spend time in when you work from home!
Had lunch with a friend
A friend of mine from aaagggees ago has unfortunately recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. So we met up for lunch in the park so we could bitch about how shit cancer is and compare notes about the best colouring books. It was really nice. Must do it again. One of the things about cancer is it’s a club you really hope no one you know gets to join, but if they have to be in, then it’s nice to feel like you can offer support. Plus there are some awesome people in the cancer club.
How was your week?
Lovely to see you back. Hope your friend is ok ( is she someone I know) xx
