There’s just a lot going on right now. Chaos of our own creation as we are getting a new kitchen put in and I had a course to finish on a deadline, and chaos that isn’t as we have some poorly Pugs to deal with. I struggle a bit without my routine and I’m feeling a little chaotic right now, so a relaxing Sunday afternoon watching Bridgerton is in order.
But I’m going to have a little look back at the last week. It was somewhat momentous in terms of history. Personally, probably less so.
This week I….
Finished another embroidery
I ordered this from Tales from the Hoop on Etsy. It’s the second one I’ve done from there and it’s a lovely summery bee sampler. Except those damn honeycombs are done in a glitter thread which is almost as irritating to sew with as the glow in the dark thread I used on a Northern Lights sampler.
It does look cute though and I really enjoyed making the little fluffy bees!
Did way too much
Like waaaayyy too much. Rain and work meant we ended up putting this weeks long walk off from Wednesday to Thursday. So we went out and did 11 miles. It was kind of fun, though I did get eaten by bugs. AND, and I guess this kind of is a momentous thing, it turns out according to Strava it was my longest ever walk. I could have sworn over lockdown we did about 12 miles one day. Turns out it was 11 miles.
Bang on 11 miles.
And this week I did
*pause for drumroll*
11.07 miles
I mean, I know I’m building up to walk a bloody marathon like the idiot I am, but seriously it feels so good. Me and my stupid incurable cancer and my stupid broken back, and my stupid fatigue and stupid joint pain and all that other stupid stuff. We walked over 11 miles. We walked further than when we were super fit long run lockdown Gem. I’m really pleased.
Anyway. It was a long walk, then I got home, went to vote and stood in a queue (thus securing my role in another momentous event of the day).
Then I went to another low contact Roller Derby scrim. I knew it was a lot to do in one day, but the last one was so much fun that I really didn’t want to miss it. It was indeed fun. But holy hell I was sweaty and tired. I was also fairly convinced that I was going to be completely unable to walk by the next day.
Then we stayed up till 2am to watch the results coming in from the election.
Yes. I knew full well it was too much to do in one day. But it was the only day all of these things were happening.
Zero regrets.
Slept for 2 days
I mean. That’s it, you knew that right?
For me anyway. I did zero exciting things, I had early nights, did some stretching and had a nice bath.
Sadly Peppa felt we needed some additional stress in our lives and developed an eye ulcer. This meant that early nights were somewhat ruined by waking up every 2 hours overnight to give her eye drops. She has to go back on Monday for another check up.
And that was my week this week. Basically I did everything in one day. I’ll leave you with a bonus photo of 2 cute pugs hiding from the rain in a cafe.
How was your week?
What she said ❤️❤️
Wow, you didn’t tell me that you did your longest EVER walk. Bloody well done. So proud of you. What a day you had on Thursday, I’m not surprised you were/are tired. all we did on Thursday was sit at a polling desk for 16 hours. Love you xxxx
