The Government says we’re all too sick

Or a rant about benefits

I mean, it absolutely cannot have escaped your attention that the Government this week has once again turned its sights on benefits recipients, and more specifically people on disability benefits, in an attempt to paint them as THE PEOPLE TO BLAME FOR ALL OF THIS MESS.

I sat and watched Rishi Sunak’s speech, just so I had more than soundbites, and honestly, it was even more terrifying than I initially thought.

The terrifying thing is how reasonable it sounds in theory. Hey, people should be given greater support to live happy, healthy, productive lives! Fair enough. Hey,we should check that people who claim benefits are actually entitled to them! Totally. Hey, we should make sure people on benefits aren’t forgotten about! Abso-bloody-lutely.

But it has scared people for a very good reason. When I looked closer into what he was saying, icy fingers started to curl around my heart¹
